Using standard digital camera equipment a series of overlapping images is taken of an object or structure from several angles. For underwater applications, the system has been designed to cope well with interference from suspended particles.

Capture

Retro relectors are placed at various points on the target which are subsequently used to create common reference points between the pictures during the image processing stage.

Process

From the pixel data, powerful algorithms generate a 3D point cloud from which 1st order measurements can be taken, in contrast to the 2nd and 3rd order provided by traditional photogrammetry software. This accounts for the very high accuracy in the point cloud data.

Measure

For millimetre accurate measurment and analysis, the models can be exported into a multitude of formats from sophisticated point cloud software to basic AutoCAD packages.
